What You Should Expect From Your Running Shoes

Filed under: Automotive News — admin @ 10:23 pm

Few activities put more stress on the feet and body than running. Finding a shoe that offers the cushioning and stability to match your running style and foot shape is essential not only to your comfort, but also your overall health.
The wrong shoe can move the stress on your feet all the way up to the hips and the lower back, where it can cause serious problems.

The length, width and height of the instep, plus your movement, body size, biomechanics and running specialty all factor in making up your perfect shoe size. So when choosing your shoes, whatever your shape or size, it’s worth
bearing in mind that the female foot is quite different to the male foot. Luckily, most of the major manufacturers now make female, male and unisex running shoes. However, it’s worth going to an outlet which specialises in female running shoes. That way you’ll be sure you’re getting the right advice and more importantly the shoe that’s right for you!

Bear in mind that your running shoes do not need to be the latest catwalk footwear. Don’t think they can double up as your clubbing trainers or your weekend casual shoes - you probably won’t want to wear them for anything other than running.

Once you’ve accepted this, you can concentrate on what you actually need from your running shoes rather than what they look like. There are many types of shoe for people with various foot types and running needs, with a lot of jargon to describe them. Here are the basics:

Running is a high impact sport. Each time your foot strikes the ground when you’re running, your leg absorbs a force that is more than three times your body weight. Unless your feet are well cushioned with shock absorbing materials, the repeated impact on your legs can lead to joint injury and other problems.

Cushioning is important for every runner, but especially for heavier people. Andy recommends shoes that have air units in the heel: “Air units provide extra cushioning, whilst keeping the weight of the shoes down.”

In addition, trainers need to be flexible enough for running. Andy explains: “Trainers that are not designed for running may have overly rigid soles. This increases the tension in the calf and can increase the risk of strains in the muscles that run up the front of the shin. This can lead to shin splints.”

Another issue for many runners is pronation - the natural tendency for the foot(especially the heel and arch of the foot) to roll inwards after the heel strikes. This acts as a natural cushioning mechanism. It’s important that your
running shoes offer the support that you need to help reduce any excessive rolling motion of your feet (overpronation).

Overpronation

It is very common for people to overpronate - i.e. the foot rolls inwards too much. This causes the leg to turn inwards and can put the knee and hip out of alignment. It can also cause the back to be twisted. This can lead to painful joints or shins, and increases the risk of suffering an injury such as shin splints or a stress fracture. Most people overpronate slightly. If you are a
moderate to severe overpronater, you need to buy motion control or stability trainers.

Supination

Supination is the opposite of overpronation - the feet don’t roll inward enough. For people who supinate wearing the wrong shoes (i.e. shoes designed for overpronators) can also lead to painful shins and joints, and even injury.
Go for cushioned, neutral shoes without any motion control.

“What is the Most Important Stock Trading Technical Indicator of All?”

Filed under: Automotive News — admin @ 6:27 am

Most traders have a favorite technical indicator.

The one that they have the most confidence in. The one that, from experience, they trust the most. Or the one that they always look at first.

For some it is the RSI. Others like the Stochastic or the MACD . Or one of the literally hundreds of other indicators that are available.

Well, I love the MACD. And the Stochastic is also a favorite.

But there is one indicator that I refer to more often than any other. However, before I tell you what it is, it is important that this discussion is placed in context.

I always stress with the traders that I mentor that the most important part of your analysis is price action.

By this I mean that the very first thing you should look at is the shape of the stock’s chart. And any patterns that you may be able to identify.

In particular, look for trends and consolidation. Candlestick reversal patterns and support and resistance levels. And be particularly aware of all time or 52-week highs or lows.

Also, be on the lookout for double tops and bottoms and triangles and head and shoulder patterns.

Because it is only in the context of the basic price action that you can make your trading decisions. And it is only from this understanding that you should begin to apply your technical indicators.

So, establish the context for your further analysis. Indeed, use this first process as a screening device.

Because, unless the chart immediately “speaks” to you, you should eliminate the stock from any further review.

What I mean by this is that unless there is a clear reversal pattern or potential for a breakout, move on. Don’t waste time analyzing charts that have no likelihood of immediate movement.

And one of the best patterns for short-term trading is the channel. Always keep an eye out for these and when you find one, give serious consideration to trading them.
Now, let’s get back to our earlier discussion. What is the most important indicator?

Well, whilst this might surprise some of you, I believe it is volume.

You see volume is an indication of the strength of price action. A market needs high volume or increasing volume to sustain a movement in price.

So we want to see volume moving in the direction of the price. Increasing both in an uptrend and also a downtrend.

But realize that it takes more effort to push prices higher than it does to cause them to drop. So increasing volume is more significant in an uptrend than a downtrend.

If volume is diverging from the trend [going down instead of up] then we would normally not carry out any further analysis. Because the lack of volume means that there is a lower probability of price movement in the direction of the current trend.

Note however, that divergence can be an indication that a trend is about to end. So this can be an early sign of a reversal.

Another important aspect to volume that is often overlooked is in regard to retracements. Because the volume during retracements gives us a significant indication of the strength of the overall trend.

A strong uptrend should have higher volume on the upward legs of the trend and lower volume on the downward or corrective legs. Similarly in a downtrend.

Volume is best plotted below your chart as a histogram, or series of vertical lines.

And it helps to add a moving average line over the histogram to smooth the volume readings. I use a 3 day MA but you can experiment to see what works best for you.

But most importantly, always consider volume before entering a trade.

Body Care

 by: Kevin Schappell

The winter months can be tough on your body… your car body that is. Salt and chemicals used in the colder climates can wreak havoc on your cars precious sheet metal. By doing a few simple things this winter, you can keep your car’s body looking it’s best.

Put a good heavy coat of wax on your car before the winter storms hit. This heavy coat will protect your paint from the corrosive salt and cold temperatures.

  • Wash the underside of your car often during the winter months. Salt and chemicals will collect under the vehicle and slowly start eating away at your car.

  • Skip the undercoating unless you are buying a new car. Applying undercoating after a car has been on the road for a year or two is pointless. The metal has already started to rust and there is bound to be water stuck in places it does not belong. Once you undercoat, you trap that water or rust and allow it to destroy your car.

  • Avoid driving through large puddles of standing water. This water is loaded with salt and will get thrown into all the cracks and crevices of your car.

  • When springtime rolls around, treat your car to a good wax job again. Make sure to get all of the road grime and salt off of the car before you begin waxing.

With proper care and love, you body will stay in shape for years to come.
